2024 is just a few days away and we have some tips on how to save in the new year!

Looking to save anywhere you can this new year? We've come up with a list of ways that may help you save on Homeowners Insurance Premiums.

1- Shop Around For Coverage & Rates

We get it, with everything going on in your day-to-day life you probably don't have any extra time to shop around or compare coverage. That's ok-- we do!  If the company you have is the same one you've always had, you may be surprised to see what other options are out there. Let our team compare coverage and rates to make sure you're getting the best of both!

2- Consider Bundling

Using the same insurance provider for both home and auto will typically put you in a position to save. The reason we say "consider" is because it's always important to shop around to get all the information, as sometimes going with separate providers is still better for your individual needs.

Auto insurance rates are on the rise as well, so now is the time to make sure your current provider is giving you the best coverage and rate possible!

3- Update Your Roof

If you lived in Louisiana in 2023 you probably learned a lot about the state of the Louisiana Home Insurance Market and saw your rates go up. We talked a lot this year about what it means to be in a hard market and how we got there, but as it pertains to 2024, we can tell you that one thing is not changing-- the need for a strong roof in very good condition.

If your roof is on the older side you may have trouble finding new insurance this year, as many providers are using roof age to determine coverage eligibility. We highly recommend getting a roofer to take a look at the current condition of your roof and any upgrades should be made as soon as possible. While you're at it, look into getting grant money for a fortified roof!

Once your roof is updated give your agent a call to see if you could save on your current policy or even change to a different provider that you may not have been eligible for previously.

4- Add Security Features

Talk to your agent to see if adding a security system, cameras, water leak sensors, etc could lower your premium. Often, insurance providers will give discounts to homeowners that work to secure their investment and lower their risks. Having these in place will also give you peace of mind in this new year because if it's worth investing in, it's worth protecting!

5- Boost Your Credit Score

This tip is really good for every aspect of your life! It seems like an "easier said than done" piece of advice, but really, boosting your credit score will help you in almost any area of money management. Having a good credit score will make you far more attractive to banks, credit companies and insurers, as you will appear more responsible and less "risky". Think of it this way, you have nothing to lose on this one!
